It is barefoot and sun-warmed. Impeccably considered, but never overly polished. The sort of place where the doors stay open, swimsuits become perfectly acceptable afternoon attire, and no one seems particularly concerned with what time it is.
We call this one our Elevated Luxury Surf Shack.
This rare five-bedroom Hualālai retreat pairs the ease of an island hideaway with the quiet sophistication of a beautifully updated private residence. Lighter interiors, modern finishes and a subtle surf sensibility have given the home an entirely new personality—fresh, effortless and decidedly cool.
The three-bedroom main residence overlooks the 16th hole of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, framing those quintessential Hualālai greens beneath an endless Hawaiian sky. Inside, generous gathering spaces and a large galley kitchen make the house equally suited to languid mornings over coffee and evenings that begin with dinner and somehow end several bottles of wine later.
Every bedroom has its own ensuite bath, because sharing a vacation does not necessarily mean sharing everything.
And then there are the ohana's.
Two completely detached guest suites bring the residence to five bedrooms and give this home something exceptionally rare: the ability to gather everyone you love in one place without requiring quite so much togetherness. Parents, grown children, another family, friends—or the particularly fortunate guests who claim an ohana entirely for themselves.
Outside, a private pool and spa create your own little world. Mornings begin quietly, afternoons disappear beside the water, and evenings have a tendency to stretch well beyond whatever plans you thought you had.
Should you decide to leave, Hualālai’s beaches, dining, golf and resort amenities are approximately five minutes away. Close enough to dip into resort life whenever the mood strikes. Far enough away that coming home still feels like an escape.

Hualalai Resort Fees and Availability
Daily resort fees are not included in the rental rate. These fees are only required if you choose to access Hualalai Resort amenities, and are not necessary to book this vacation rental. Restaurants are available without paying the additional resort fee but subject to availability. Reservations are often needed.
If you would like access to the Resort's amenities, a daily fee applies for each guest and ranges from $75 to $230 per person (plus tax). Resort access must be for a minimum of 2 consecutive days, and all guests in the home must opt in. These fees are paid directly to the Resort.
Please note: The Resort is a separate entity from Beyond Sunset and manages its own amenities, fees, policies, and restaurant reservations. Once your reservation is confirmed with us, we will provide your contact information to the Resort. They will then reach out to you to coordinate your preferences for amenities access.
